Strength--The Tale of Veritus
Veritus’ records are among the best and most numerous, probably because his are more recent. He is second only to Arcana in terms of the wealth of information we have of him. This was all recorded from the Saxonanglish bard Rickard Small in his Eddas and occurred c.8,000 years before the start of the current story...
”Chivalry...Nobility were but an empty name without her, and liberty finds the best protection in her lance and her sword.” -Sir Walter Scott, Ivanhoe

Discovery--The Tale of Arcana
Arcana is described in Theology, The Galilean Bible, and several other sources in detail. But this event, her most noteworthy, happened long after the first editions of those texts. This particular story was recorded across Cymru texts and in their own Compendium, as well as Emrys’ own writings, which were well-preserved. All this happened a mere 10,000 years ago...
“All of us, all living things, have the potential to change.” -T.A. Barron, The Seven Songs of Merlin
Arcana lifted herself over the grassy seas of Cymru. At this point on the planet, she was in the embrace of Aether, the Element Lord and personification of Aura, whom she viewed as a boss-type figure. Arcana bonded with her and took her on this quest because she wanted to try something new. She had begun to take pity on the humans, still isolated and uneducated with their surroundings. Arcana was going to reach out to them. And if she found a human who was able to understand her, she would gr

Discord--The Tale of the Great Server
The Great Server is the least documented Demigod. While mentioned in the Theology, he is so far removed and isolated from us mortals, few have been able to witness him. Though all are affected by his powers. He was however the inspiration for Daasmut Rex to write Theodicy, which is about the presence of injustice in a world where Brahman and positive energy exists. This event is described in that book and said to take place some time after the banishment of Infernus, c.33,000 years ago…
"I'm not evil [...] I'm chaotic. Not the same thing. I oppose order, not good." -Discord, My Little Pony: Friends Forever Issue #20
Out amongst the Cosmos, rarely leaving the view of Koballa lived the most fluid and whimsical of Demigods. So rarely was he shown to distant recorders, there was barely an inscription of any kind regarding him or his ways. This being didn’t even have recordings of a formal name, only being known by the title “The Great Server”. One idea

Entropy--The Tale of Shin Kami
This story combines accounts from the Ptolemaic Theology as well as Chapter 14 of the Book of Isaiah in The Galilean Bible, indicating the Aegyptian astronomers bore closest witness to the event. Given the age of the former, older text, the latest this could have happened is about 35,000 years before the start of the current story.
“Just because something bears the aspect of the inevitable one should not, therefore, go along willingly with it.” -Philip K. Dick
Shin Kami was considered the “true god” of this universe. The first of the demigods, his idea for balance were the closest to the basic idea Brahman had in mind. As a result, he was considered the unofficial leader of the divines and a watchman of the universe.
But as a watchman and a personality, Kami was as fluid and unpredictable as the cosmos themselves. At one time, he could be commanding and assertive in his control. But in others, he was loose and aloof, which felt like opposite

SPOILERS!!!!
Past the halfway point. Sigh! I just don't want this series to end. But I can sense the end is nigh.
And we get another callback. The woolies were part of a good episode. I was glad they came back. It was quite the touching moment.
Here comes Scaramouche again. Although as a robot, he couldn't really die. Aku would have been able to download his conscience into another creature or something. Just as a bouncing head, he was funny to watch. And was that sailor keeping watch a reference to the Popeye movie Genndy didn't make? And oh, yes, Scaramouche said "Penis". That alone warrants it being on ADULT Swim, all right!
Next, we get testimonies from the Three Blind Archers (curse lifted), the ravers (that was one of my favorite episodes), Da Sam-oo-rai (retired), and Demongo (I thought he died) about his exploits. It was nice how we got both positive and negative effects. In the meantime, Ashi cosplays as Tinker Bell to show a change in personality and renunciation of Ak

Tales of the Demigods--Prologue
The End Is The Beginning Is The End…
All Of This Has Happened Before, And It Will All Happen Again…
The great dance of the universe has continued forever. Nobody knows how long its been going on or which repetition of the dance is occurring now, but all that is known is the universe has gone through cycles of expansion and contraction since the start of all of eternity, whenever that may be. Even the supposed “heat death” forewarned by observers will just end up stalling all events in that installment of this cycle and will sow the seeds for a new cycle to begin.
In the beginning, The force of Brahman flushed itself out through infinite space and created a thriving universe. Again, this had already happened before, but many think with subtle differences each time. During this particular iteration of the event, a cosmos of millions of planets with trillions of lifeforms came around. Also for this version of the event, called the “Big Bang

The Bestiary: 'Legendary' Creatures
My part of :icongwiber49ofireland:'s continuing expansion guides.
"Legendary" creatures are numerous and expansive across Drodon. These are creatures that are known to exist and have been documented by scholars at points in history, but have been hidden in time for many years, sometimes centuries even. Think of them as better supported cryptids. Many attempts have been made to find them, but few have come up successful. Their presence adds to the mystery and mysticism of a planet where most things can be explained away by Aura.
It is unknown how many of these are one-of-a-kind, or if there are entire populations existing along the planet. But their elusive nature led to many stories and legends. Many have achieved cult-like status, worshiped as spirits by certain races. Brahman knows Eschaton would love to get his hands on more than a few of these and perhaps control them and their orders to his advantage. The real mystery is how many of these things remained hidden

Lost in Adaptation -- Redwall pt 2 Mattimeo
Hello, my beautiful watchers! Welcome back to Lost in Adaptation.
At long last, I have finished reading the second book in the Redwall series AND its accompanying season of the TV show. This is going to be a fun one to rip into…
It is strongly recommended you read the first review in the series before proceeding.
The second book of the Redwall series Mattimeo was published in 1989 as a direct sequel to the original, but the third book in the series (the stand-alone prequel Mossflower being the second). It is one of only two books in the series to serve as a direct sequel to another and the only other book directly related to the original. Like I told you, the canon is a bit loosey-goosey. So in any event, in adapting the Redwall series, this was the next logical step in telling the story.
My nostalgia for the first book rang true, but for the series, I was able to be fair and ca

The Voice of Drodon--A DAEU Story
Chronologically, this takes place towards the end of Gang of Four and even contains a reaction to that arc’s ending.
“...And that is how I know the New World Order is upon us,” a gravelly, throaty voice called out across the hidden continent of DA-Land. “To my fellow DA-Landers,” the voice continued, addressing everyone but no one in particular, “Never forget that we are the Watchers on the Wall. Eschaton may be evil, but never forget his puppet masters as well. Soon, the Cult of Malignus will inject us all with cobra venom and wipe our memories to serve their purpose. But until then, we stand vigilant. As the true leaders of Drodon. The only voices I say you can trust are those of myself, my princess, my benefactors in the palace, and those...within your own mind. Good night, everyone!”
This voice belonged to a creature named Alex Hyland. He had been doing this same shtik for fifteen years, and while few took him seriously, he was voted

DAEU Class FAQs and Clarifications
I'm looking over my class list for the DAEU and it has a lot of bugs. One sentence was not quite enough to say everything I wanted and there were some ambiguities. I feel like there is no time like the present to clear all of this up in the form of an FAQ. I am going to be as specific as possible in explaining classes and their differences in presentation and fighting style.
This comes in handy for the three users who told me they wanted to apply. So I'm tagging :icondigicartoonist99: :iconoddypants: and :iconkissasheep: here so I can be as specific as possible when planning your characters.
Important passages marked with italics.
How does "dual classing" work?
This is what you want to do if you want to have two classes. First, pick a class you want to present yourself as. In other words, you would have the abilities and primary fighting style of this one class. Then, your secondary c

Geography of Drodon Part 2: DALand
DA-Land is a suspended micro-continent located within the boundaries of the Coastal Province near the location where the three regions intersect. The DA stands for "Drodon Ascended", as it was lifted to make invasions more difficult. It was erected by Phoenix Storm, a Phoenix artificer, after thirteen years in the making. It was actually rushed to production after the invasion of Eschaton prompted it to be put into action. It is meant as a halfway home for refugees and those displaced by conflict. It is the region for those who belong to none. A "ninth region" where Drodonians of all races and classes can interact and make the world a better place.
Phoenix Storm took a piece from the main seven regions and integrated them into the continent to make a mini-Drodon. He metered the max capacity to be five million and enough farmland to feed that max capacity for a century. The intention was the populat

Next Greatest Screw-Ups
Yes, longtime watchers. I am not infallible. I make mistakes just like anybody else. It's hard to admit when you're wrong, but I still do it. Freely.
Some time ago, I made a list of five notable "screw-ups", be they factual errors or me just not acting like I should on DA. But there were way more. And today, I am counting down some other glaring blunders I have made during my time active on DA.
These are organized roughly by the magnitude of the error which I could judge by how many people called me out on them.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

On Powerpuffpony1's review of the 2005 version, I said that film would never surpass Gene Wilder's version due to the latter actor's death and Johnny Depp's domestic violence suit. But I was two years off on its release when I said this.
Someone else was quick to point out the film came out two years earlier

“My name is Robert MacDiarmid, and I’m the first of a new kind of hero for Drodon: a ‘super hero,’ as is the generally accepted term.  When I was a child, something I never thought possible, a giant scorpion archer, killed my grandfather, the legendary Sir Galbraith.  In adulthood, I became what I never thought possible upon receiving a series of technological boons from genius inventor Dr. Walton Mustang before his murder.  Now, with the help of all the friends I’ve made along the way, I use my armor, sword, and intelligent automobile COLT to fight common lowlives, Eschaton’s disciplined armies, and supernatural forces.  And one day, we will restore peace and order to Drodon, revive the ruined Order of Marius, and win justice for all those that Eschaton took from me and my family.  I am Colonel Knight Rider!”

DAEU: The Bestiary: 2 More Races

After the success of my previous entry (see here), I've decided to make another list of races for The Planet Drodon.   Enjoy!
Tolyaks
(Toxomala sapiens) are sapient chasmosaurine ceratopsians indigenous to Grassland.   Now, one wouldn't expect ceratopsians to become sapient, but keep in mind that self-awareness is subjective.   With that being said, it should be noted that any creature has the potential for higher cognition.
Tolyaks are about 30 feet long and weigh 900 lb.  Unlike their other relatives, their neck frills are reduced, and are practically vestigial. However, the males have bow-shaped cheek "horns" that are often brightly colored, hence their specific name.  They manipulate objects with their bea

Veritus looked over the little planet of Saxonangle in disappointment. All these years and all these great ideas, but none of them had been remembered for some time.

A Gallic invasion a few centuries prior changed the hierarchical structure and culture of the little planet. But what impressed Veritus most when he observed this conquest was the behavior of the Gallic horsemen. The Ga’als won that battle because they used stirrups and the Saxonangles did not. This allowed the horsemen to not only deal a crushing blow while mounted, but also stay on so the reactive force would not send them flying.

In addition to technical innovation, the Gallic riders showed mercy to the fallen. They stole loot and raided buildings, sure, but they would also not kill their opponents. They would show mercy and tolerance of their conquered as they did the plundering. Sure, a few fell during the initial encounter at the landing site, but when fighting one-on-one, the Ga’al warriors went out of their way to disarm the opponent, not kill them. This was admirable to Veritus, as his belief in Brahman’s balance was in personal balance: the ability to control oneself in personal and civil conduct and act admirably even under stress. He valued these warriors and learned their name came from the Gallic word for horseman--“chevalier

Times had changed over the eons, though. Few invasions came back to Saxonangle, and the chevaliers were out of work. Their behavior threw the internal balance of most of them out of line. Many broke their principles when a new king replaced the old and was more lax in conduct. Now, these warriors looted the farmlands and temples and sometimes trampled workers to death in the search of fortune just to whet their appetites for battle. Veritus needed an excuse to set the chevaliers straight. And he was about to get the best excuse to do just that.

A wandering swordsman named George was challenged by another named Rion. Both men were mounted on horseback and holding pikes. Watching this battle, Veritus wondered what the reason for the confrontation was.

Fortunately, the blind Overseer Justice answered his question. “The man in red said the man in grey trespassed on his property. They are duking it out now to redraw boundaries.”

“That seems petty,” Veritus noted. “Killing someone because you can’t compromise. What do you expect from this.”

Justice was blind, but could sense the path of Brahman from her heart. She predicted the outcome right away. “It would appear that the grey man--on the left--is the superior swordsman.” Her Aura detection was so refined she could even sense color. “So I would advise stepping in soon and trying to negotiate with him, since he will be the one in power after this.”

As soon as their pikes collided, Rion’s lance snapped. George--the grey armored one--took a sideways swipe and dismounted Rion. He steered his own horse to seclusion and parked it before himself dismounting and unsheathing his sword. Rion had a mace, but was no match for the reflexes of George. Veritus took the form of a yellow cloud to hover over the battlefield. For every lunge Rion made, George dodged it. The back and forth continued for three minutes before at last George made a slice and knocked the mace from the other chevalier’s hand. Right as he was about to strike the killing blow, he was stopped by a booming voice from the cloud.

“No,” Veritus intervened. “You don’t have to kill him now.”

“Why shouldn’t I? That is how the game is played,” George shouted at the clouds. “He lost, now he must pay the price.”

“No,” Veritus shouted. “That type of injury is a corrupt action. Truly righteous men do not kill in cold blood.” Rion seized this opportunity to flee. Veritus created a haze around George to keep him from running after. “If you want to be great, you will listen!”

George obeyed and sat cross-legged in the haze. Veritus then appeared in his favored form: A grey warrior who looked a lot like George himself, with armor bearing the sigil of a yellow cloud. “There were warriors like you in the past, but they have fallen a long way.”

“Who are you?” The chevalier breathed.

“I am Veritus, the Patron of all Warrior Classes,” the Demigod echoed. He shifted his form back to the cloud and began playing an Aura-based “slideshow” of all the exploits of the great warriors of this planet’s past. “And now, I shall show you the standard which has been lost to the ages..and what you can do to bring it back.”

And Veritus saw the ages pass before his eyes. He saw the two thousand years of progress leading to the chevalier fighting style. And then he saw that decay. His eyes widened in sorrow as the once proud warriors turned to simple looters. As he reached to touch his own form, Veritus shifted back to the warrior body.

“Seeing all of this fade was depressing, was it not?”

George nodded in agreement.

“But it can return again!” Veritus promised.

“Really?” George breathed a sigh of disbelief.

“If you are willing to open your heart to others and truly emulate those who came before, you will follow this moral compass. The greatest warrior of all has to be a proud and just role model. Do you promise to uphold these values of this new code?”

George nodded, a bit faster this time.

“Okay,” Veritus affirmed. “There is a name for these behavioral principles.”

“What is it?”

“Well, you are a chevalier, so I decided to call this chivalry, to refer to your line of business. And more fighters like you can join a chivalric order to spread the word. If you can keep calm for three days, I will induct you to my order--The Grey Order. But you have to be on your best or the offer will be revoked!”

George paused but swallowed his pride enough to concede to his superior. “I shall carry myself well, wise one. Thank you for your time.” George turned away and began to walk home.

Veritus remembered one thing he had on inventory to give to the vagrant warrior. “And by the way, here’s some reading material a friend of my sister’s wrote.” Veritus handed a copy of Emrys’ scriptures to George. “There were warriors just like you in this tale who visited Saxonangle. Maybe read up on them as inspiration for your own endeavors.” George nodded and continued home.

After some preparation and a few days to relax, George was ready to be inducted into his new order. Veritus and a local cleric outfitted him with chainmail and a sigil of his design for the occasion. George had decided the sigil of this new order should be the form in which Veritus had visited him: a yellow cloud on a grey background. As he stood to the cleric, he knelt and delivered his sword to him. He bowed his head and recited the following pledge, which was written by himself in collaboration with all witnesses to the ceremony:

”I, Sir George, Chevalier of the Grey Order, do pledge the following: I hereby pledge to devote my life to the dignified service of my Creator, my Country, my Ruler, and the basis of this order Lord Veritus. As a servant of this order, I shall grant a fixed percentage of my fortune to those bearing less than myself. If confronted, I shall never retreat from a challenge, but all the while look my adversary in the eyes and hold him as equal to myself. I shall never take the life of another being unless another life is being threatened in that moment. I shall always speak the truth, defend the defenseless, follow all orders bestowed upon myself, and bear witness in favor of my peers if called. And I shall live dutifully and humbly in the service of the Grey Order, assuming this as my guiding principle until the end of my days. So help me, Great Spirit!

With that, a new standard of conduct was born. George would spread his word to the locals and many more would take and uphold the pledge in their daily practices. Violent crime and hardship had gone down due to annual tournaments to show the chevaliers’ personal and emotional strength, and the chevaliers themselves had a reason beyond combat to exercise themselves as role models and take an active role in the community. The resident Saxonangles took to calling them Knights, after their word for servant. But Veritus, admirer of the Gallic language had a more noble term for them. He called them Paladins, to suggest fighting for something greater than themselves. Inspired by the Grey Knights, many other orders popped up around the planet, dedicated to the services of local lords or venerated ancestors. Veritus did not mind, for at least their devotion was aimed somewhere. When the Knights took to the stars to colonize, orders appeared on other planets with new and unique sources for their inspiration to do good.

A few centuries later, a descendent of Sir George would be named Ixion. Ixion led the starcrossed expedition from Saxonangle including explorers from twelve other planets to find a little place in the corner of the galaxy called Drodon. Instructed only to mine resources, the Grey Knights practiced chivalry when looking and soon were granted a colonial area, for it turned out the residents of the planet did not value gemstones as much as humans. Except for dragons, but that’s another story.

It has gotten to the point in the present day where more than forty orders have chapters on Drodon. The First Order of Drodon, calling both the current Overlord and his chief rival members at one point, was the first ever order to have been founded on the little planet. With the rise of the Overlord and his plans for reform, most regions built their militaries with newer conduct codes and different technologies, diminishing the power of true Paladins in battle. But they and their orders still remain as both a paramilitary fighting class and as community servants.

And the Code of Chivalry has remained a guiding principle to this very day...
Strength--The Tale of Veritus
I did a lot of research in compiling this tale. Pretty much everything you thought you knew about chivalry IRL is a lie, so I had to bend the rules a bit.

This was simultaneously the easiest and hardest of the stories to write. Easy in its scenario and buildup, hard in execution. I had to create a concept that most sources said was mostly bunk, but just true enough to inspire legends. But Veritus has become one of my favorite characters to write about.

For those of you still calling me out in saying reboot and continuation are not the same, there is a term that serves as a compromise.

A reboot done years later but is still within continuity of the original is called a soft reboot. THIS is what Samurai Jack currently is and what Gargoyles and Invader Zim on my wishlist hypothetically would be.

Other specific cited examples are Jurassic World, the different Star Trek series, and the Rise of the Planet of the Apes movies.
After the success of the Classes FAQ, I decided to compose one for the most important element: the story. I get asked many of these questions four or five times a week. So here I will answer them and provide links for everything you need to know about this crazy pet project of mine.

What is this all about anyway?

It's a worldbuilding project first and foremost. I wanted to put my overactive imagination into writing and tell all these big stories. I used to make stuff up like this with friends, so why not do it here online. It's the same concept.

How did you come up with the idea?

It was loosely inspired by Dungeons and Dragons, which I play with friends over weekends. I wanted to do something similar and involve some watchers in a big expansive universe with a story written by yours truly. In fact, roleplay was in the early design stages of the idea, but I couldn’t figure out how to get everyone to do it at the same time.

Later, as I moved more towards expressing the idea through traditional literature, I turned more to Discworld, where there were many different stories to expand that universe and wanted to go to there to look how that story was told. And my mind went wild.

I still have some problems in my writing. I feel I’m too exposition heavy, many of my scenarios are not that dire, and I think I have problems building up to events. But hopefully as I go on, these issues will improve.

Is there anything I need to do before joining?

The only requirement is you need an active Deviantart account. That is one that has not been closed down. Even a dormant account can and has been included in the story.

How may I join?

Two ways:

1: I handpick you from quickly perusing your gallery. Sometimes I have an idea based on who we need and what your gallery is like what role I can include you as. I did this at the beginning with the initial cast. I go by priority with whom I interact with most on DA, so if you talk to me a lot, you are more likely to be included this way.

2: You apply. Included in the application are links to the class list and the FAQ for those classes. This is where you know your character and can write a decent backstory for me first so I know what you want.

The latter method is encouraged and I don't think I will be handpicking any more roles for the foreseeable future. It is also the most recommended if you are particular about what character you want. If you're a mage but I see you as a paladin, you better write that mage character so I know what you want!

You handpicked me but I don't like my part.

OOOHHHH...sorry about that.

Sometimes, I may be able to revise or replace your character if it doesn't interfere too much with the planned story. But again, I don't think I'll be handpicking too many more people for this reason.

How many OCs (Original Characters) am I allowed to make?

I can and have used pre-existing OCs in the story. So you are allowed to submit any number of characters you want.

BUT...the general rule of thumb is to have one character represent yourself, and then to have about two or three characters support them.

Do I have to RP (roleplay)?

Only if you want to. Though I certainly would not discourage such behavior.

Am I allowed to contribute with stories or fanart?

That was the intention.

Have a great drawing? Turn it in!

Have an idea for a story? Write it!

If you do write something, I may suggest minor revisions if it contradicts lore. But most prompts are accepted.

To guarantee that I see it, please tag me

Am I on a deadline for turning in my fan work?

Not a hard one. I would rather have a story be good than timely.

However, I will say this much for now. The Mid-Season 1 Finale Arc is coming on Memorial Day, 5/29! It assumes the end of all ongoing content and will include all user OCs up to this point. If you want to submit a character or story, it is recommended you do so before 5/29! Thank you!

I'm new to the story/haven't caught up. Where do I start?

The megapost should keep you up to speed. Though it updates at the end of each story arc because if a story is in progress and you want to wait until it's over to drop in, then that would be the best way to do so.

How do you keep all of these works straight?

We have a group.

May I join the group?

Yes. The only requirement though is you must have something to offer to the group. Even if it is only one drawing ever, you must still submit SOMETHING.

Do I have to worry about being killed off?

This is a little iffy right now. I was originally going to ask permission first, but I feel like some deaths will be necessary. And you'll know when they are.

But I will tell you up front that I am not George R. R. Martin. I do not gain satisfaction in destroying my characters. But sometimes it may be necessary and add emotional weight moving forward. So be prepared for that possibility, even if it is not an immediate concern.

Do I have to worry about being romantically involved with anyone?

This was debated for awhile, but I think this is far more problematic an issue than character deaths.

The implication would inevitably be that I ship two users in real life. Which is not true at all! And then there's the possibility of being matched with a character you don't like. Which is also wrong. I was planning on having two characters hook up down the road, but immediately thought better when I saw how their users acted towards each other on-site. So I just did the safe thing and avoided this topic altogether.

But if there is to be romance at all, I'll see to it both parties agree and understand this is pure fiction before writing it in.

It is perhaps worth noting the only canon romance so far is from OCs belonging to the same user.

How do you write so fast?

I start with a loose outline and work from there. I usually know the length of the story before I begin and the rest is converting my brainstorming into prose.

It's a combination of making things up as I go and planning out the next move in the story.

How long do you plan to keep this going?

For as long as I want.

Though it should be noted, I have this planned for at least three seasons. And if I do abandon the project, I'm sure somebody will pick it up somewhere down the road. So...it will go on for as long as it can in the hands of its users.

Sounds great! How do I let other people know?

Spread the word. Join the group. Submit your OC. Do stuff on your profile and your friends will pick up on it! Let's see just how far this universe can extend!

Also, there is a TVTropes page. I would edit myself, but I am JUST...ONE...PERSON! So if you see any good story/character tropes, go wild and make that little page grow!

And if she found a human who was able to understand her, she would grant them her greatest gift. In the distance she saw the Great Stag and Alun the Giant, laid as protectors of this planet by her favorite associate, the Great Space Owl. But those creatures knew all about her. They knew about Aura.

Aura would not be discovered by humans for another several thousand years, but humans got closer each passing century. After the sporadic chaos of The Great Server, many efforts had been made to quantify and replicate the powers of the demigods. While there were some who could handle telekinesis and mind-reading, no full-fledged magic user had used their powers to full effect and become a true “wizard” just yet. And no text was able to quantify this magic property yet, just describing this as “bending nature”.

So far, the only creatures who had mastered Aura were those that produced it: the tardigrades. Tardigrades were so small, they needed extreme closeup spells to be seen, but lived in every nook of the cosmos, most abundant on asteroids and in water. They would consume natural matter and rock, and in return they would secrete the properties of Aura. Of all the creatures in the universe, Arcana had chosen them to be Aether’s standard bearer because they were the most...innocent. The most careless to the ills of the cosmos. They were the best responses to discord and resisted corruption. Arcana liked how benign they were.

Today, though, all of that would change. And magic in the universe would never be the same…

Arcana glided across an invisible ribbon crafted by Aether, whose presence she could feel all around her. She searched all around, beyond giants and serpents alike. Then, she saw a young man in a circle of stones. He had a staff placed horizontally in front of him and sat cross-legged with his head slumped, as if he were waiting for her or anyone else to save him from...something. Some form of suffering.

Arcana took pity on the man. She turned to Aether in the back of her mind. “Should I talk to him? He seems sad.” Aether whispered in her head for Arcana to do as she pleased. Arcana flew to the man and enveloped her essence around him. “Excuse me sir. What is your name?”

“Who are you?” The man replied.

“A...friend,” she excused. “I want to get to know you better. So...what do you call yourself?”

“Myrddis Emrys,” the man replied. He turned his head to look at Arcana, and she was shocked to see his eyes were merely the whites. No pupils, irises, or distinguishing features of any kind. Just white pools on his unkempt face. “Or just...Emrys,” he finished.

Arcana gasped at the revelation her new acquaintance was blind. “What happened to your eyes!? No offense…” she remarked.

The man seemed to take no offense. “A giant centipede came to me in youth,” Emrys explained. “While I survived, its giant spear latched onto my face. I lost my own eyes during that battle.”

Arcana shuddered, for she knew well of the grasp of Seta. Emrys should consider himself lucky to even be alive. But there was something she could do still. It would be hard while he was awake, but asleep her plan may yet work.

She had to think fast. Another associate of hers, Morpheus, had allowed a method of instant contact with his construction of the Dream World, where anything was possible. She tried in desperation to remember the recipe that would knock the young man out to take him there. But it was Aether who guided her subconsciously across the planet, picking just the right ingredients for the knockout juice. With some reluctance, Emrys took the elixir and went out cold almost instantly. Following his projection, Arcana ascended into the Dream World to have a better conversation with the blind one.

“There,” Arcana assured as they reached the Dream World. “Can you see me now?”

Emrys’ response was a surprising “No.”

Emrys had not been born blind, so he should have been able to see Arcana in dreams. But Seta’s venom was potent enough to cross planes and destroy inner Aura. Arcana had to try harder to get through to him. She took the form of a white tiger-cat and danced along the plane, her paws making thumping noises as she stepped. Emrys was able to follow her footsteps with his head. It’s a start I guess, she thought.

Arcana continued to look around for a solution. Even in the Dream World, there were tardigrades. After all, their Aura held the place together. She scratched at the void, hoping to get some on her claws. Emrys’ willingness to accept Arcana’s drink and to learn her ways impressed the Demigoddess. She felt he was destined to carry a new era in humanity.

After a long time clawing, Arcana felt enough on her claws to feel confident in letting Emrys touch them. She told Emrys

“Now tell me,” she demanded after she saw him sigh. “What do you see?”

“I see... a stripe.”

Arcana looked to her back. She had forty-two stripes. Seeing one was a start, but she wondered now which stripe he meant. “So...how long is the stripe?”

“Short,” Emrys confirmed. Then, he paused some more and scrunched his face, taking in new information. “Oh, wait, no. There’s another. A longer one.” He kept seeing more and more stripes appear. After the first seven came, six smaller ones appeared below each, shorter and not as broad as the ones up top. Until at last, Myrddis Emrys saw the outline of a tiger-cat floating in front of him.

Arcana did a few aerial somersaults and whipped her tail in front of Emrys. “I’m so glad I could help you!” she cried. “You were a great student and it means the world that you could cooperate.” Emrys smiled just a little. “Now, hold out your staff,” the Demigoddess instructed. He did and her paw clutched the staff, causing it to glow blue. Emrys gazed in awe with his unseeing eyes at the new light.

“Thank you,” he accepted the offer. “But...what did you do?”

“I have blessed you with my gift,” announced Arcana. “It is called Aura. It is the universal provider and altering material. Just as I changed your properties and granted you second sight, Aura can manipulate the world around you. I only decided to give this to the worthiest of humans. And your discussion with me proved your worth!”

“But...why?”

Arcana continued her speech. “As a Demigoddess, I am tied to Brahman, the force of balance in the universe. My philosophy of balance is balance of physical and ethereal qualities. If there can be a medium to commune with both, the world will even out to allow for the presence of both.”

Emrys nodded in agreement. “All good. But...how shall I return to Cymru?”

“That’s the easy part.” Arcana tapped the new mage with her nose and together, the pair returned to the physical world.

When he awoke, Emrys felt his face and lifted his staff. Now, the blind man moved about with the ease of a sighted person. He said he could only see blue outlines, but it was an improvement. With his staff, he practiced levitation and synthesis magic, creating the most beautiful patterns in the grass. When Arcana bade him farewell, Emrys promised to never reveal his secrets and to only use Aura for the benefit of others.

His first task was started right away. He decided to turn his meditation circle into something greater. He called Alun and all other giants, and using some Aura to help with lifting, he turned his circle into a giant henge, made of stone. Arcana was welcome to visit any time and not worry about losing power, because within the boundaries of the henge was a sacred field no being not in tune with her could cross. And this became the origin of the force field tradition carried on by artificers to this day.

Myrddis Emrys would become respected at home. A noble lord named Arturis would consult him for ideas and predictions for the future, of which he was happy to oblige. He wrote about all his uses of magic, as well as ideas for future mages like him to help create a standard by which magic could be applied. Based on his first vision of the stripes of Arcana, he created the Seven Arts of Magic and the Forty-Two Disciplines--six per art--as a standard for how Aura magic could be displayed. His writings and ideas were handed down and revered by druids and clerics alike. Though Emrys never revealed the source of his power, studies after the Discovery of Aura would trace everything to Arcana. It all made sense in the end!

As for Arcana, she had other plans. She looped around into an asteroid and found a perfect sphere to settle on, rife with tardigrades. She lobbed it off, swinging her tail like a baseball bat, sending it hurtling towards the near-edge of the system. She knew not what would come of it hitting the small planet nearby, but she couldn’t wait to find out!
Discovery--The Tale of Arcana
When was the true Discovery of Aura? Was the discovery just on Drodon?

Yup, I published TWO chapters within one span without a good night's sleep. I feel this was to make up for maybe maybe not skipping a day between the prologue and Shin Kami. But I just want to have this arc done before April finishes. Because May has a doozy. So why not get the halfway point out now?

Try to guess the reference with the character Myrddis Emrys as well as the real-world analog to a planet named "Cymru".

Over on Discord, :iconantisapien: wonders what you miss the most from him...

One idea was his name was imposed at first in irony, to expand on his ideas of serving up chaos. But no alternative was provided, so the Demigods and mortals alike just stuck to calling him that. And who were they to argue with another omnipotent being? One sketch artist drew as representation a hodgepodge of all creatures, with the base being a dragon, containing the feathers, paws, and horns of everything else. This was used as the default image when thinking of him because...why not?

But this same observer also claimed to see The Great Server in action one time...

On a certain day at a forgotten time in history, The Great Server wanted a little fun with his existence. Infernus had been conquered. The residents of the cosmos had been saved. Everyone was happy. A little too happy. This does not feel right, he thought. In the eyes of Brahman, all things must be equalized. But what should the standard be? There needed to be an air of unpredictability, like his brother Shin Kami, to make life worth living and challenges worth pursuing. Of course, his actions were never evil. Like any Demigod, The Great Server knew going out of the balance was bad and not to extend his bounds to create evil. He thought the idea of having some unpredictability and imbalance would be the perfect time to enact his plan and have a little fun, as long as no harm was brought upon the mortals.

And thus, The Great Server visited a few planets to wreak a little storm of chaos on them. Many strange things began to happen none had documented before. There were reports of frogs raining from the sky, lightning without thunder and vice versa, people seeing and hearing things that others could not, and the first ever instance of teleportation observed by mortals (A frog was transposed from a pond to one man’s porch with no explanation).

While some panicked and hid at these events, one observer decided to investigate these things for himself. Daasmut Rex of the planet Hellenica took it upon himself to trace these anomalies and cite their origin. He tied in the unexplained phenomena with the idea of suffering such as illness and decrepitude. He married the studies of the paranormal and theodicy to trace the Demigods as eccentric, playful beings who want to challenge mortals, giving them something to look forward to in life. If things needed to be in balance, then the predictability and measurability of life fell into that balance. He appreciated The Great Server and placed this idea as the driving point of his book. It is still read to this day by Drodonian scholars.

Sadly, the divines themselves did not see it this way. It got to the point where Shin Kami and Veritus had to rope in The Great Server to a tribunal. The rest of this recorded text is just speculative, but this is how it is believed The Great Server defended himself from castigation like the Old Ones.

“But I meant no harm, honest!” He looked around and saw Shin Kami himself seem to understand. “You of all beings would appreciate this idea,” he hoped to gain sympathy from his colleague.

A glimmer of realization seemed to creep across Kami’s one eye, but The Great Server was still called into question. “You know that there are things that exist outside the balance. When I create chaos, it is planned and controlled. I do not know if I can say the same of yours.”

“Yes,” The Great Server conceded.

Veritus, who held the opposite ideology as The Great Server, announced. “No. The preservation of internal strength is jeopardized by these rants. Creating a panic can bring these creatures into harm. Do you want to do that?”

The Great Server couldn’t defend that. He hung his head, but lifted it again as he settled for a compromise. “Alright! I won’t hurt anyone. But we still need a bit of imbalance within people’s lives so there is a standard for which balance can be upheld. It makes things more interesting and gives reason for all choices under Brahman’s plan.”

This seemed to please Shin Kami. Before his more stoic brothers Veritus and Exus could butt in, he silenced them in invisible spheres. “Very well,” he conceded. “You may cause those mild disruptions and create obstacles to be overcome. That is fine enough, and does add a layer of intrigue to these mortals. Within these boundaries, you may proceed.” The Great Server was thrilled.

And with that, chaos was allowed to seep through. Within certain boundaries of course. These anomalous events still occurred, but their frequency prompted discoveries and traced the divines to accrue knowledge and map out the tiered hierarchy. Through chaos came a quest for order and a joint effort to regain balance, which the other demigods appreciated. It taught self-accountability and planning for the unplanned.

Further investigations were done on these events, prompting the use of magic as a science and discipline, leading to the emergence of Wizards in academia. If a wizard gets rejected, it is only to keep the balance in check by not having too many and challenging the dominion of Arcana. The Great Server then livens up their lives by making a wackier, more creative path to success.

On this quest of realization, Nasr al-Fahd after rejection from the Magic Academy was led in the direction of Dagon and published on his own the Necronomicon. He did not achieve his main goal, but through the disruption of The Great Server, got even more recognition for another. While he may have lost his sanity in the process, his accomplishments taught us much about the Cosmos and the unknown.

So don’t feel too bad if things are not going your way. If something comes you were not prepared for, there are ways to adapt. Sometimes the path you were on needs to be a bit crooked, and maybe you’ll discover it wasn’t the best one after all, and then turn around. And when you walk around and observe a mild inconvenience, do not just shrug it off as such...

It may just be the best thing that will ever happen to you!
Discord--The Tale of the Great Server
What good is balance without a little bit of chaos to throw it off? This was yet another difficult character to write because I was not sure how the very antithesis of balance would tie into Brahman's plan for balance.

I'm thinking of starting all the chapters of this arc with a pretentious quote. It's more fun and adds to the "pre-recorded" nature of the story.

But in others, he was loose and aloof, which felt like opposite ends of the spectrum. Nonetheless, he was a respected leader to both his peers and his followers, knowing just when to shift the balance in favor of one persona. All trusted him to carry himself as best he could given the circumstances.

At this particular moment, Shin Kami had been tracking an infamous Great Old One for centuries across the universe. None, not even Shin Kami, had been able to plug the void known as Azathoth at the center of all things. Infernus, one of his spawn, was a direct threat to Brahman and therefore the philosophy of balance. As Infernus actively consumed the great force! This creature was capable of corrupting Brahman, including distributed Aura, and would chew down on said Aura weakening the grip of the universe. He was given the title “Malignus”, or “evil one” in the Deep Speech of the Demigods. He had avoided capture by never being in the same place at one time. But it was decided his centuries-long spree was at an end! Shin Kami said he needed all six of his brethren to do the job, and their ages long quest had them hopping planets for aeons just to find the Old One.

Right now, he was situated in the far column of the known universe, in the cluster containing most of its life. Vulpecula, a smaller Demigoddess and Exus, their brother, made the trek this far to find the Evil One on high. “If he’s anywhere,” the now-serious being began. “He’d be disrupting our way of life in here.”

And sure enough, they all saw their quarry feeding from an open hole in the fabric of space-time. The Old One took a form resembling what would later be called a Hercules Beetle, unleashing  straw from his mandibles to drain Brahman. One of the principles of the universe was Brahman could not be destroyed. But in consuming parts of it, Brahman would be weakened by this monster’s lust for destruction.

“This is pretty bad now,” Kami noted. “He definitely is powerful. But none of us wanted it to come to this.”

“I’ll say,” Vulpecula replied.

Shin Kami seized the opportunity to do what he did best. “You know what we do when we don’t get what we want, sister?”

“What’s that?”

“We improvise!” Shin Kami’s motives turned on a dime. Now, not so stoic and unmoving, he became aloof and unhinged, not unlike his own brother The Great Server. He began juggling planets like bean bags and spinning galaxies on his index finger, distorting the world beyond so he could get Infernus’ attention.

This was the philosophy of the demigod in a nutshell. Even his personality was allowed to fluctuate in a state of “controlled chaos” as going too far in one direction would throw the cosmos out of check.

But Shin Kami was still quite capable and cunning in his new persona. Shin Kami focused his one eye to try and spot the Old One. As he found the bug, he changed his address to Infernus. “You know, Infernus, taking in too much at a time can have side effects,” he snided. “A little moderation never hurts.”

The other two demigods present thought it was a waste trying to communicate with that which falls outside Brahman’s touch. “We’d have to warp the Old One himself to get the creature to stop,” Exus announced.

Shin Kami only smirked. “...that can be arranged!”

He approached Infernus and threatened him with menacing taunts. “I see nothing we have done has so much as flinched you from this mission,” he observed, biding his time with the plan. “Maybe I can’t change your mind…” He smiled crookedly. “But I can change everything else!” And Shin Kami warped the creature and the world around it. What he left it as was something of the same shape but of horrifically different build. Now, the great beatle had arms at his mandibles and appeared to be made of bits of flesh stitched by an incompetent taxidermist. His mouth gushed with blood and his new arm grabbers launched themselves at the demigods.

Infernus took a moment to observe, but it seemed he liked this new form. The creature never spoke, but could communicate telepathically to the divines. Inside all their heads, the Demigods heard I feel more powerful than I ever have been before.  Thank you all for granting this, especially Shin Kami. But now, you yourselves must learn the extent of this new power. The beetle lunged into the expanses to attack Exus and Kami, who were within his path.

Shin Kami was ready. Focusing energies on the hole Infernus made, he grabbed it from the edges and repositioned it with no effort and causing no disruption to the universe or beyond. As Infernus lept, the traction from the hole sucked him in and trapped him in a plane between world. Needing nothing but a zipper materialized from Aura itself, he zipped the hole with nary a wrinkle to suggest anything had even happened.

“There are some times where I do not need to explain anything...”

With that, Infernus had been captured. He would continue to chew through Brahman’s very fabric and consume souls. His corruption would exist still within our universe, but at least the monster himself was not an immediate problem.

However, Shin Kami of all beings knew the day would come when Infernus broke loose. You could contain an Old One, for millennia at a time if you were fortunate, but they would always find a way back by twisting the minds of those who could. Though the lock on Infernus was blocked by a force and message only the warden Shin Kami knew how to lift. In Kami’s own words: "I, of all people, know that names, words and phrases don't make good passwords.” So the secret of releasing the bug is still safe with him.

But Shin Kami would watch. More acutely than any of his siblings. Malignus would never attack what he could not understand. And who was less understandable than Kami? Nobody!

Shin Kami would have other exploits and adventures. Many of the other demigod actions would be dictated straight from him.

But those stories are locked away within the stars.

Mark your calendars for May 9!

The Prince :iconantisapien:'s return is meant to be a day of celebration!

Really That Good? - Spirited AwayThe following piece is a critical response to a film and an analysis based on a viewing of something of which I already have familiarity.

Spirited Away is an anime film, produced by Studio Ghibli and directed by Japan’s most acclaimed director since Kurosawa, Hayao Miyazaki. Released in Japan in 2001 and the US in 2002, it launched a strong reputation right away, unlike some films we cover on here, oddly enough.
Simply put, the mountain of praise and the legacy surrounding this film is untouchable! To date, it is the only non-English-language film and the only hand-drawn film to win Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. It is Japan’s highest-grossing film at the box office. Metacritic has it in their Top 10 movies of all-time, and various publications like Empire and IGN rank it as one of the greatest animated films ever. The BFI sai

Author’s Note: This takes place chronologically before Gang of Four begins. It is set about a month before the events of that story…
O Great Wanderer, Hear this story…
You came to us when we needed it most. You never knew of us nor our land, but helped us in the most inventive and unique way we ever saw. And you taught us all to unite when things got rough during our campaign.
For the last fifteen years, you were still on Drodon. You were oblivious to the rise of Eschaton, as you lived alone. In the Grasslands. Away from the fighting and suffering dealt with the Fall of Capitol. Eschaton never looked towards the south, aside from a few coastal areas, because most of it was farmland anyway and would not impede his progress. While you heard the name before, it meant little or nothing to your daily life, and you carried on without any knowledge of his tyranny.
However, you were not of the grasslands. You didn’t even have much of a

I will write anything you want, be it a review, or a story, or a thinkpiece. Just make sure it is in good taste!

Ok i really need to ask, does the cameo by Demongo means that he will reapaer again against Jack? I mean, i think it would be a waste if he just appears in a cameo
